We meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 12-1:30pm. New members are welcome at any time.

The Book Study will read one chosen book slowly together through the entire club year and spend time discussing it as the reading progresses. The ideal book choice will be one which asks us to change some of our behaviors in order to improve the quality of our lives. Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion. Members of our group come from a variety of religious backgrounds and beliefs.
Purchasing the book isn’t required; however, some choose to do so, so they can reread at home or read ahead. The general procedure is for individuals to read a chapter prior to the meeting and come prepared with discussion ideas and/or quotes to read aloud.

This year the Book Study has chosen to read and discuss Loving- Kindness: the Revolutionary Art of Happiness by Sharon Salzberg.

Sharon Salzberg has been practicing Buddhist meditation for twenty-five years and is co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. She teaches meditation around the country and is known for her common sense and humorous approach.

Loving-Kindness is a way of living that invites calmness, clarity of mind and heart, and understanding.
