Adopt-a-Trail

Watch this space for next scheduled trail cleanup event.

The Adopt-a-Trail group meets one day every other month to clean a section of the American Tobacco Trail that runs through Woodcroft and neighboring communities. The women of the club (and some spouses) have a strong desire to keep our Durham community beautiful and inviting to nature lovers.

We meet at the AT Trail Entrance located behind the former Suntrust Bank on Fayetteville Rd. at Sutton Station. Enter at the light and drive straight back and turn right into the parking lot at the back. There is a sign marking the entrance. We split into 2 groups with one cleaning from that point south to Southpoint Crossing and the other north to Cook Rd. Bags and grabbers are provided but bring a pair of disposable gloves and dress comfortably for the weather. Clean-up generally takes about an hour.

Each volunteer must complete an online waiver with the Durham Parks and Recreation Dept. which oversees the program.  The waiver can be completed at the following link.  Only fields with the asterisk (*) need to be completed!  https://www.dprplaymore.org/FormCenter/Volunteer-7/Durham-Parks-and-Recreation-Volunteer-Ap-45
