This is the group for you if you want to get out and have fun exploring the Durham area and beyond while making new friends. We have previously visited the Honeysuckle Tea House, toured the Videri Chocolate Factory, took in the sights at the NC Chinese Lantern Festival, toured the Duke Lemur Center, made a trip to the local gardens … and much more! We have a scheduled outing once per month. Your suggestions for activities are always welcome.

We meet at the Woodcroft Professional Building to carpool. We leave as soon as all that have confirmed to attend have arrived or 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time.

December 9, 2019 Exploration: Governor's Mansion's Holiday Open House  On Sunday December 9, 2018 at approximately 12 noon, we will head to Downtown Raleigh, have lunch at the Morgan Street Food Hall, and then go to the North Carolina's Governor's Mansion's Holiday Open House. We should carpool as much as possible, since parking will be at a premium.  Please email Amy B by 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, to let her know if you are planning to be a part of this event, and if you would rather drive, ride or meet us there. The exact time and place to meet will be based on how many people are going and who would like to drive, etc.   The Holiday Open House is free, but lunch at the Food Hall will be separate pay.  (It's a modern day cross between a food truck rodeo and a food court.)

January 3, 2019 Exploration: (Date is Tentative) Georgia O'Keefe Exhibit at NC Museum of Art

As requested by several members, we will be having a docent led tour of the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art, followed by a lunch at the Museum's famous IRIS cafe.  At this time, I am in the process of finalizing the exact date and time, (coordinating between the museum and the cafe is not an easy feat for a large group), but I am trying for Thursday, January 3, 2019, somewhere around 11 am.  The group will be limited to approximately 15 people.  Please email Amy B ASAP if you are interested in participating in this event,  The cost (for a docent led tour & ticket) will be approximately $22.00, and lunch (paid separately), at the IRIS cafe is a little high please be warned in advance....

January 6, 2019 Casual Adventure:  Blue Note Grill & Blues Competition Winners

Join us and go to the Blue Note Grill in downtown Durham to enjoy music presented by the winners of the Local Triangle Chapter International Blues Competition.  The event on January 6, 2019 will run 5:00-8:00 PM  and the Music will be provided by the the groups going on to to the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tenn. early in 2019. This is a fundraiser so that the Triangle Blues Society can help defray costs for those groups to go on to the next level/final competition. Help support our local competitors, enjoy some great blues music, and have some really good food too!  The Blue Note Grill is the Triangles top Blues Venue and also has a great reputation for good food.  If you're into ribs, or fried pickles, they are known to have some of the best!  If you want to go, just send an email to Amy B and let her know you are interested by the Friday night before the event. Feel free to bring guests but let Amy know how many when you RSVP. She will attempt to reserve some seats together for our group of attendees.  We can carpool if anyone wants, just let Amy know.
