Provides students from very low-income families with a backpack filled with nutritious, non-perishable food each weekend to combat hunger and to help children come to school Monday ready to learn. The program is a partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and its Bayer Crop Science Backpack Program.

WWC has two groups that pack food. The first, led by Peggy F., meets the first Tuesday of the month during the school year. The second group, led by Colette D., usually meets the first Wednesday of the month during the school year. Meeting times for both groups can fluctuate so watch your emails.

If you are interested in carpooling, meet at the Woodcroft Professional Building around 9:35 AM as we leave promptly at 9:40 AM. If not, meet at the Food Bank of Durham located at 2700 Angier Avenue, Suite A at 10:00 AM. Filling the backpacks with food takes about an hour to an hour and a half. We are usually back by noon.

Each group packs 240 bags at each visit, making a significant contribution to our community.,
